Tri-C Board Sets Tuition Rate

August 12, 2020

The Tri-County School Board met in regular session last Thursday, August 6th in the old gym. Reports were given from the superintendent and principals.
Under old business the board discussed COVID-19 planning and approved an amendment to the attendance policy for the 2020-2021 school year. All student absences will be excussed with a parent notification. This change was made so that families would utilize the symptom checklist to screen students at home without fear of running out of excused absences.
The board selected the 1 year rate from Home Exchange Bank for a $150,000 CD at .75% APY.
Under new business, the board approved the Conflict of Interest Ordinance for MEC, and they approved the state plan as the Local Compliance plan for Special Education. MSBA 2020 Part A policy updates were reviewed.
The tuition rate for 2020-21 at $6,375 was set by the board. This is based on the SAT money the state uses to calculate per pupil funding. No action was taken after a discussion on the budget.
An executive session was held for personnel and student records.
The next regular meeting will be September 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the superintendent’s office.

Tax Rate Hearing
A Tax Rate Hearing will be held on August 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the old gym.
