Early Sat. morning, thunder storms moved through the area, receiving 2 to 3 inches of rain in a half hour or less along with strong winds. Now since, cooler temp. with a high of 80º. Extra nice for August. So is fall almost here?
In the past several months a new set of buildings went up on 300th street between Hwy NN and Levi Kurtzs with Steven Kurtzs moving into it on Thursday.
Raymond Mast and family and Gary Miller (Clifford) of Yoder, KS were to Wautoma, WI to attend a wedding.
Enos Burkholders, Joseph Gingerichs and Daren Ropp were to Wyoming this past week to put up a building for someone and do some sightseeing.
Wymans, Lesters and Jonas Miller were gone a week making stops between here and Yellowstone.
Ivan Schrocks and Jonas Troyers are at Estes Park, CO for a week. Delmar Schrocks of Burks Garden, VA visited Elvan Schrocks. Henry Rabers and family were to the Omaha Zoo Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of Henrys family of Buchanan, IA were also there at the same time.
David and Katie Fry were mowing hay and the children were either riding ponies and some in a pony cart. One of the horses that Katie was driving got his rein caught on the other horse. For some reason when she went around to the front to undo it the horses ran away and the mower bar caught on the pony cart, demolishing it. Seven-year-old Kaitlyn received a bad cut at the lower part of her back and had bumps and bruises ending up at the Emergency Room.
Eleven-year-old Duane Troyer (Leon) was mowing hay when the seat came off of the forcart, throwing him off and the forcart wheel and also the mower wheel went over his shoulders. although nothing was broken, he was very sore.
One of Paul Frys little boys, for some reason or other, pulled a ponys tail and before he knew what had happened, both hind feet him him in the face and ended up with a banged up nose and swollen eyes.
Visitors in N.E. church on Sun. at Karl Shrocks were min. Jerry Lee Yoders and min. Jonas Yutzys of Peace Valley, MO. East church had baptismal services at Raymond Beechys for Sarah Troyer (Leon). S.C.C. church had baptismal services at Merle Yoders for William Yutzy (Melvin) and Elaine Detweiler (Rudy). Middle church had baptismal services at Owen Lee Shrocks for Sara Marie Schrock (Vernon) and Beth Kurtz (Abe). Visitors were bishop Dean Troyers and deacon perry Kurtzs of Mt. Vernon, MO and Gary Miller (Clifford) of Yoder, KS. Middle church to be at Owen Lee Shrocks on Aug. 30, S.C.C. at Rudy Detweilers, N.E. at Daniel Kurtzs and East at Leon Troyers.
Those that went to the Lake of the Ozarks for a week are Mose Burkholders, Mose Grabers, Lavern Beechys, Barbara Kurtz (Levi), Eli Kurtzs and Marlin Troyer (Raymond).
