Winston Redbirds Win HDC Championship

The Winston Redbirds won the HDC Tournament Championship last Saturday against the Grundy R-V Panthers, 48 - 29. Redbird Coach Eric Lewis said, “The Redbirds had a great first half that propelled them to the win” and he credited Winston junior Braden Lee's defense on Grundy's Corbin Axtell as the key to the game. Winston was led in scoring by Brian Lewis-17, Jacob Uthe-14 and Levi Youtsey-11. Grundy's Zack Cross had 10. The Redbirds record was 22-1 with the win. Lewis said this was the Redbird's ninth straight HDC tournament and regular season title. (submitted photo)
